Hot Rock Restaurant

Well, last night we wanted to try something new and ventured down to El Raso where we found The Hot Rock Italian Steak Restaurant. To be honest, I didnt fancy it....but with no other ideas from anyone and time ticking by we decided to go for it and was I glad we did. This was THE best meal we have had anywhere for ages!! Basically, you have a choice of steak (2 sizes), chicken or fish (sea bass or trout)- these are served on a hot rock (sort of a tile thing) which remains hot throughout your meal and basically you cook your food on it!! My husband and I both opted for steak which was the most tender, tasty steak I have ever had. You sort of slice pieces of the steak, which has been seared on the outside and has a gorgeous flavouring on it, and then cook them to your taste. You get 3 sauces and a side order included. The small steak (200g) was €16,90 and trust me it was enough for anyone! My hubby ordered the large steak (300g e21,90) but admitted after that the small one would have been plenty - he ended up sharing the large one with my daughter who had ordered pizza. We both ordered fries as our side but next time I think we would order one fries and then maybe mushrooms or onions. The sides like mushrooms, onions, tomatoes are also cooked on your hot rock and come with an olive oil, honey and mustard (I think)mixture which caramelises as they cook - my mouth was watering when she told us this!! As well as the hot stone meals they also do pizza and pasta. The pepperoni pizza was gorgeous too and definitely home made. Our bill was around €50 and we each had one drink. I didnt feel it was too expensive because the meal was so delicious. The lady serving us who I presume is the owner was extremely friendly and polite. The place is done out lovely and was very clean. We will definitely be back there. It is just behind Stan and Ollies on the roundabout as you go into El Raso. DELICIOUS and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

We have been to this restaurant too and were very pleasantly surprised. It's not the cheapest around like you say but the steak was delicious, tasty and so tender and the small one is definitely enough for anyone! My partner had the seabass and loved that - it had been defined and again was very tasty. We would certainly recommend it.

TAPAS

We are looking for any recommendations of any Spanish places that offer homemade tapas dishes, what are the average costs of a racion, along with a traditional atmosphere.

Almoradi

We have been to several places in Almoradi that produce some fantastic homemade Tapas. The two in particular that we have enjoyed on several ocassions are both Spanish, Terratremo and Angel. Really nice and reasonably priced and would recommend them to anyone.

Hi,
We have been to both of these places and we would agree with your comments! The seafood tapas in Angel are to die for. Another place we have stumbled on is a place called Bar La U that also offers a wide range of Tapas and on certain days you get free Tapas with a glass of beer or wine. Does anyone have any other suggestions as we are open to trying as many as possible? jenny

For excellent Tapas try Comic Cafeteria, located on the main street, Calle Mayor, near Church (beside Domti Shop). Pepe and his wife Pilar are very nice and food very good.

Things are moving on very quickly with the sites at the moment.

Our visitors are now up to over 1200 people per day and growing all
the time as people find us. We are also on the first page of Google
for 100's of businesses that are listed on the sites which is driving
more traffic to us.

We now sponsor the news on one of the local radio stations who
introduces us 15 times a day

I am setting up an office in Quesada where all agents will be able
to use the facilities. It will be branded as "A Spanish Life" you
should also start to see a few cars driving round with our name on.

We have an estate agent that is now apart of the team who you can
collaborate with if you wish for all your property sales. He will be
able to provide you with properties for your site and offers a very
good deal on commission for any enquires that you get from that turn
into sales. He can also help you with rentals.

I am currently setting up interviews to employ a sales person to
sell banner space.

I hope to be over to Spain in the next few weeks and we will be
holding our first meeting of all the agents, so you will have a chance
to meet each other and get to learn more about my plans for the
future.

ALFIES DOCK

Hi all
Just wanted to let you know about a fun experience we've had recently at La Mata. On Wednesdays (market day) and at the end of the market (beach front) there is a hotel. On the outside patio of the hotel "Alfies dock" is located. This consists of un upturned boat grilling sardines and large gambas. along with this there is a guy playing keyboard, singing and entertaining, he provides something for every nationality and its a great atmosphere. It gets very busy and if your there after 11.30 am your unlikely to get a seat. The hotel also offers a varied menu but the fresh fish from "Alfies dock" seems very popular. We've been twice and had a great time. Might be something you want to try or direct your guests to. Have fun !!!!
